You Watch Your Mouth

Proverbs 11:8

 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

The wise leader understands that it is very important to speak appropriately and with positive words in every situation. Words spoken with emotion will usually come back and require a lot of work to correct if misspoken or negative. Listen to the words coming out of your mouth, they will have an impact.

For every situation, there will always be an opportunity to make a right decision and a wrong decision. The wise administrator understands that a decision supported by honesty, truthfulness, and unselfishness will always be the right one. There will always seem to be an easier more advantageous choice, consent thou not, choose the right way.

It is always a difficult thing to keep from speaking our mind. Opportunities abound to say things during the day that are not positive  or productive. The wise leader understands that those that control their mouth and what is coming out of it will reduce the stress in their life!

As administrators we sometimes think that we must have all the answers. This is far from true, as a fact of practice, it is better to listen and speak a very few well selected words than to ramble. The successful leader understands the power in picking your words correctly and to do so is such an exhilarating experience!

A successful leader listens carefully to the words that are spoken and chooses only life words in all situations knowing the power that words hold over the people that they are responsible for.

No thing will ever go without comment or notice for a public servant. The wise leader understands that there is no time during their service to be in a questionable behavior or communication. Live as  if every moment of your day is being broadcasted to the world and there will be much success for the leader!

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

A wise leader will always maintain a focus on the people that they serve. As a public servant, never allow focus to be on oneself. This can be a very challenging situation as other immediate family members enter in to daily interactions. Plead the cause of others and personal needs will be bet as well.

The wise administrative leader understands the power of words. Not only the spoken word, but also leaders must guard their thoughts. This practice will bring much success to  the leader that has the discipline to control such temptations in their daily work.

Many times the work of the day takes over and before we know it the year is gone. The wise leader understands that a vision must be developed and constantly revisited if the goals established are to be met. Without a defined vision, there will be no direction and  confusion quickly follows.

Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

The wise administrator has the ability to let others take the credit for successes. These leaders understand that self praise only leads to negativity. Hold your tongue when you are tempted to give yourself credit as an administrator and you will reap far more than any self acclaimed accolades could ever bring.

Emotional situations sometimes create emotional responses. When emotion is dominating a conversation, it is better for the administrator to guard their mouth and tongue. It is a good practice to not allow words spoken in emotion to occur. It is an art that the experienced administrator understands will keep his mind, will, and emotions out of trouble and that is where the successful leader wants to stay.

Proverbs: 14:7 

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

People will always be a part of a public servants life, however, the longevity and success of service will be determined by relationships. There is a difference between acquaintance  and relationship. The wise administrator will carefully select personal relationships that promote success and not those that tear down.

Proverbs 13:3

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Administrators at times get the perception that they should have all the answers. Understand that some questions do not need to be answered but just listened to. Random conversation can be a real trap for an administrator and can cost hours of time trying to correct miscommunications. The wise administrator listens carefully and thinks before he speaks.
